How the Workshop Runs
Your instructor walks the group through a project-based session where everyone contributes while learning new skills in a relaxed, creative atmosphere. The session covers the machine basics your project needs, then moves into cutting, pinning and sewing, with the instructor moving between tables to explain each step and help with tricky seams. Because the session is three and a half hours long, there is time to learn properly, finish the project and still enjoy the conversation along the way.
Why It Works for Groups
Sewing encourages patience, communication and collaboration, which is why it makes such an effective team activity with a crafty twist. Colleagues pass fabric, troubleshoot together and celebrate each finished seam. With a group of 10 to 14 guests, it is one of the most engaging team building activities for small groups, and among creative team bonding activities it has a clear sustainability story your team can feel good about.
It is also one of the more hands on team building activities for teams that rarely get to make something physical together, and one of the few team building workshops where everyone leaves with a useful upcycled item. Outside food and beverages are welcome, so your team can bring snacks for a break.
About Your Host
The studio is a women-owned sewing lab in the Inner Sunset, founded in 2020 by a designer originally from Chile who holds a degree in Fashion Design and Pattern Making. She spent more than ten years as managing director and designer of her family's clothing business before moving to the United States, and she now leads the studio as founder and lead teacher. The lab works as a small learning hub where young people, families and adults explore how clothing is made, from materials to finished pieces, while practicing machine sewing, textile recycling and upcycling.
The studio holds a 4.5-star rating across 15 reviews. Guests describe a warm welcome for beginners and experienced sewists alike, instructors who are patient and encouraging, and projects that leave people wanting to come back for more classes. Her main interest is teaching the value of garments: how they are made, why they matter and how thoughtful choices can reduce waste.
