What's Included
- Two and a half hours of guided handbuilding instruction
- Access to all the tools needed to create your bag
- Colored glazes to make your design pop
- Coffee and tea while you work
- Firing and glazing by the studio team so the bag is watertight
- A handmade, functional ceramic handbag, ready to pick up in about four weeks
What You Will Make
Each guest slab-builds the body of a handbag, shapes creative handles and adds the fun, personal details that make it theirs. You explore colored glazes for the finish, whether you lean toward bold patterns or soft, earthy hues.
Once your piece is formed, the studio team fires and glazes it to make it watertight and ready for real life. That means your bag can hold fresh flowers as a vase, keep kitchen utensils in one place or sit on a shelf as a piece of art.
Everything you need is covered, down to the coffee and tea, so guests simply show up with their creativity, pick a spot at the table and start building. It is a playful, screen-free creative escape that rarely feels like work.
Why It Works for Groups
A clay handbag is instantly funny and surprisingly elegant, which gets a group talking from the first cut of the slab. It is one of the most approachable team building art projects for adults: basic pottery skills, plenty of creative freedom and a relaxing, screen-free escape that leaves people with more confidence to explore design.
Private sessions of 6 to 11 guests keep the room social and easy to manage, which makes this one of the simplest team building activities for small groups and a crowd-pleaser among fun team activities. The class page lists it for a team building activity, a Christmas party, a birthday or a bachelorette party, so it doubles as relaxed christmas party entertainment and a fresh entry on any list of creative team activities.
About the Studio
The host is a women-owned pottery studio in the Inner Richmond neighborhood of San Francisco. Its founder grew up in her mom's pottery studio, spending most of her childhood covered in clay, helping customers and learning to make things by hand. Before opening her own business she worked as an elementary school teacher, and that background still shapes the room: the goal is a space where people feel comfortable trying something new, slowing down and not feeling intimidated.
The studio opened in 2023 and now runs one-night hand-building workshops, memberships, kids pottery parties and private events for teams and friends. Its own ceramic line focuses on color, form and playful pieces meant to be used every day, and that same spirit carries into every class.
