How the Class Runs
Your host walks the group through the construction of each drink, blending real spirits and bar knowledge with essential mixology fundamentals and interactive cocktail revelry. Along the way you learn about the history and theory of cocktail making and pick up practical tips you can use at home. The menu changes with the seasons and leans on good ingredients (the class page jokes that good ingredients mean no headache).
- Pick your cocktails from the current seasonal menu
- Learn the fundamentals: balance, technique and why each ingredient is there
- Build each drink step by step with your mixologist
- Toast, sip and swap notes with your group
A three-cocktail version of the class is also offered, and an optional tools kit can be added when you book so guests can keep practicing at home.
Why It Works for Groups
A cocktail class gets people talking from the first pour. Everyone has a job behind the bar, the host keeps the energy up with trivia and jokes, and the group ends with a drink in hand rather than a slide deck. That makes it one of the easiest after work team building activities to plan and one of the most fun team building activities for adults who like to learn something new.
The class is booked for groups of 6 to 200 guests, so it scales from a small department to large group team building activities and corporate team building events. The class page lists it as great for a team building activity, a holiday party, a birthday or a bachelorette party, and it fits right in among office holiday team building activities for teams that want a festive outing without a long dinner.
About the Host
The school was founded in the spring of 2015 in a small neighborhood bar in the Mission District of San Francisco and has grown into a community hub for bartending professionals and craft cocktail enthusiasts. Its founder spent ten years bartending in San Francisco before starting the school, and its instructors bring more than 40 years of combined professional experience. More than 1,000 people have graduated from its bartending certification course, and the team has hosted over 1,000 team-building events throughout the Bay Area and online for companies in tech, law, finance, entertainment and professional sports. Every instructor has at least six years of bar experience in two or more establishments.
