What You Will Make
Each guest builds a ceramic berry bowl using slab handbuilding techniques. You cut your form from a clay slab, construct and refine the walls, then learn piercing to open up the walls the way a berry bowl needs. From there you explore surface design with texture tools, stamps, rollers and clay attachments, before choosing from a selection of bright glaze colors.
The studio takes care of the rest. Your bowl is glazed and fired so it comes back functional and food-safe, ready for farmers market berries all season long.
Along the way you pick up handbuilding basics you can use again: slab building, carving, piercing and decorating with stamps, rollers and clay attachments. No clay experience is needed, so bring yourself, maybe a friend, and get ready for a berry sweet night in a bright, laid-back studio.
Why It Works for Groups
It is relaxed, creative time that feels like a reset. Guests bring a drink they love, such as wine, sparkling water or something seasonal, sip while they shape and chat across the table in a bright, laid-back studio. That mix of easy conversation and focused making is why it ranks among the most approachable team building art projects for adults.
Private sessions of 6 to 10 guests keep the table close, which makes it one of the more natural team building activities for small groups and a strong candidate for after work team building ideas. It also earns its place among creative team activities and fun team activities for a birthday, a bachelorette party or a Christmas party, all of which the class page lists as a fit.
About the Studio
The host is a women-owned pottery studio in the Inner Richmond neighborhood of San Francisco. Its founder grew up in her mom's pottery studio, spending most of her childhood covered in clay, helping customers and learning to make things by hand. Before opening her own business she worked as an elementary school teacher, and that background still shapes the room: the goal is a space where people feel comfortable trying something new, slowing down and not feeling intimidated.
The studio opened in 2023 and now runs one-night hand-building workshops, memberships, kids pottery parties and private events for teams and friends. Its own ceramic line focuses on color, form and playful pieces meant to be used every day, and that same spirit carries into every class.
