Overview

A marriage ceremony officiant package for couples marrying in Salinas, Monterey County, California, built around a ceremony script written from scratch and hands on support if you are writing your own vows.

From First Visit to Finished Script

Every ceremony starts with an initial visit, in person or by video call, covering how you met, what you admire in each other, the families who will be in the room, and the tone you want the ceremony to set. A short homework assignment follows, and the answers become the raw material for the script. It is described as the most important part of the ceremony, and that is not a figure of speech: nothing is pulled from a template. Decades of pastoral experience show in the small choices, a story placed where it will land, vows that sound spoken rather than recited.

Vow Coaching, If You Are Writing Your Own

Writing your own vows is the part couples most often start late and finish badly. Vow coaching and writing support is included rather than sold separately, so someone reads the drafts and helps you get from a list of feelings to something you can say out loud.

Traditions This Ceremony Can Hold

Christian, Orthodox, Protestant, Quaker, interfaith, secular and spiritual ceremonies are all performed, along with non religious civil unions and commitment ceremonies. Traditions from different faith backgrounds are blended deliberately rather than stacked end to end, and couples who want no religious content still get a ceremony with weight to it. A non religious wedding officiant and a religious wedding officiant are here the same person making different choices for you. The officiant is ordained through a religious institution and legally authorized to marry couples in California.

Included in the Booking

  • An initial getting to know you visit, in person or by video call
  • The homework assignment the couple completes between sessions
  • A fully custom script: greeting, story, readings if you want them, vows, ring exchange and declaration of marriage
  • Religious, interfaith, non religious, civil or spiritual elements
  • Vow coaching and writing support if you are writing your own
  • Unlimited email and phone contact leading up to the wedding day
  • Coordination with your planner, venue contact and photographer
  • Officiating the ceremony itself, typically under thirty minutes unless you want it longer

Length, Sound and the Room

Ceremony length is a choice, with fifteen, twenty and thirty minute shapes available and a longer service if you want one. Sound and microphone handling is part of the job, which matters more outdoors than couples expect: a beach ceremony and a barn with a hard ceiling are different acoustic problems, and neither is solved by speaking louder. Full ceremony coordination is available indoors and out.

Add Ons Chosen at the Initial Visit

  • Premarital counseling sessions, priced per session, or bundled as a four session package with the ceremony
  • Unity rituals including sand, candle, ring warming, hand fasting and wine, written into the order of service
  • Vow renewal and second wedding adaptations

Venues and Travel

Ceremonies take place at backyards, private estates, vineyards, barns, beaches, hotels and restaurants across the region. Travel within Monterey County is included; ceremonies farther along the Central Coast are quoted with a travel adjustment set out at the initial visit and stated in writing before any deposit is collected.

Lead Time and What Follows the First Visit

Most couples book the initial visit ninety to one hundred eighty days before the wedding, which gives the homework room to breathe and the script time to settle. Inquiries are typically answered within a day. After the visit you receive the contract, deposit instructions and a planning workback setting out what is expected at each milestone.

Deposit, Dates and the Marriage License

A non-refundable booking deposit is collected at contract signing to confirm the date and reserve the officiant, with an associate officiant named in the contract as the backup. The ceremony date and time are locked once the deposit clears, and date changes inside thirty days of the event are accommodated subject to availability and may carry a rescheduling adjustment. Cancellations received more than sixty days before the ceremony are eligible to apply the deposit to a rescheduled date within twelve months when availability allows. Obtaining a valid California marriage license before the ceremony is the couple's responsibility; the officiant signs it on the day and submits it to the county on the couple's behalf. Rehearsal attendance the day before is offered as a paid add on when the ceremony location is available, and is arranged at the initial visit.

How This Compares With the Counseling Tier

This package covers the ceremony itself, with counseling as an add on. Couples who want four sessions built in from the start are better matched to the tier that bundles them.
