How the Counseling Arc Runs
The four sessions follow a structured premarital education program built around an online assessment the couple completes before starting. The results are walked through together in the first session, and the sessions that follow work across the standard arc of that program: communication, conflict resolution, finances, family of origin, intimacy, and spiritual life. Each session runs roughly an hour, and they are scheduled at the couple's pace rather than pushed into a fixed calendar. Sessions are held in person in the Salinas and Monterey area, or entirely by video for couples living farther along the coast.

Booking Window and Pacing
This package is usually booked four to six months ahead of the wedding, which is what lets the four sessions be paced rather than compressed into the weeks when everything else is also happening. The initial visit for the ceremony itself tends to fall either at the start of the counseling arc or just after the assessment results have been reviewed. Inquiries are typically answered within a day, and availability is confirmed after the first call.
Where the Sessions and the Ceremony Happen
Counseling can be done fully by video, which is what most couples outside the immediate area choose, or in person in the Salinas and Monterey area. Ceremony travel within Monterey County is included in the package. Ceremonies elsewhere on the Central Coast are welcomed and quoted with a travel adjustment agreed at the initial visit rather than added to an invoice later.
The Person Doing Both Halves
The counseling is led by a retired pastor with decades of pastoral experience who is a certified facilitator of the premarital education program used here, and who is consistently well reviewed across major review platforms. The same wedding ceremony officiant then writes the script and performs the ceremony. The officiant is ordained through a religious institution and legally authorized to marry couples in California.
Deposit, Dates and the Marriage License
A non-refundable booking deposit is collected at contract signing to confirm the date and reserve the officiant, with an associate officiant named in the contract as the backup. The ceremony date and time are locked once the deposit clears, and date changes inside thirty days of the event are accommodated subject to availability and may carry a rescheduling adjustment. Cancellations received more than sixty days before the ceremony are eligible to apply the deposit to a rescheduled date within twelve months when availability allows. Obtaining a valid California marriage license before the ceremony is the couple's responsibility; the officiant signs it on the day and submits it to the county on the couple's behalf. Rehearsal attendance the day before is offered as a paid add on when the ceremony location is available, and is arranged at the initial visit.
