What's Included
- Two and a half hours of step-by-step instruction
- All clay, tools, materials and aprons
- Two handmade espresso cups per guest
- Glazing and kiln firing by the studio team, with your choice of glaze color
- A self-serve coffee and tea bar, with BYOB welcome
What You Will Make
Each guest shapes and assembles two espresso cups from clay slabs. Then comes the fun part: customize them with handles, stamps, texture tools, carving and decorative details. Whether your style is clean and minimal or playful and colorful, there are plenty of ways to make the cups your own, and daily espresso drinkers, iced cortado fans and ceramics collectors all find something to love.
When the cups are complete you choose a glaze color from a curated selection of finishes. The studio team handles all glazing and kiln firing so the pieces come back food-safe. Because each piece is handmade, the drying, glazing and firing process takes approximately 4 to 5 weeks, and you get an email with pickup instructions when your cups are ready.
The result is a slow morning, made by you: two small cups, new pottery skills and the satisfaction of a ritual served in something you built. Come solo, bring a friend or make it a unique date; the instructor keeps the pace relaxed and is on hand to answer any of your questions.
Why It Works for Groups
This workshop is equal parts creative experience and coffee lover's dream. Making a matching pair invites conversation as guests compare designs across the table, which gives it a warm, social feel, ideal for team building activities for friends, a unique date or a solo maker who wants a slow, satisfying project.
With up to 10 guests, it fits neatly among team building activities for small groups. It is also one of the more satisfying hands on team building activities for a coffee-loving office, a reliable choice among fun indoor team building activities, and a gentle way into creative team building for people who have never touched clay.
About the Studio
This bright, welcoming pottery space in the Inner Richmond is women-owned and was opened in 2023 by a ceramic artist and educator who grew up in her mom's pottery studio. A former elementary school teacher, she built the studio so that people could experience clay in a more approachable way, make something with their hands and step away from the noise for an evening.
Alongside public workshops the studio offers memberships, kids pottery parties and private group events. Private events have a 6-guest minimum, and the studio can host groups of up to about 22 guests with the right staffing, so it suits everything from a small team to a full department.
