This three hour textured butterfly painting class in a Castro Valley studio is a playful team building painting activity in the Bay Area for beginners. Guests build a colorful acrylic base, outline a butterfly design and then decorate it with a textured medium applied much like icing a cake, before painting the details and taking home a one-of-a-kind piece.
The class is priced at $60 per guest for groups of 2 to 20 guests, and a flat surcharge of $60 per class applies for private bookings. All art supplies for the project are provided, no experience is needed and every guest leaves with their own textured butterfly painting.

A Class That Encourages Creative Freedom
Once the texture is set, guests bring the butterfly to life with paint, and they are encouraged to change the colors, patterns or even the hairstyle to make the artwork truly their own. No two butterflies look the same, which keeps the room lively as guests compare results.
Recent guests describe a patient, talented teacher who is thorough in explaining techniques and helpful whenever someone gets stuck, and a class that is simply fun. The tactile texture step is a favorite, since it feels more like decorating than painting and takes the pressure off first-timers.
Why It Works for Groups
As painting team building, the class gives a team the same starting point and lets every person finish in their own style. It is one of the more creative team building activities for adults who want something hands-on and relaxing, and with groups of 2 to 20 it scales from team building activities for small groups to a full department. It also suits a date idea, a birthday, a bachelorette party or a Christmas party, and it is among the most fun team building activities for adults who have never painted before.
Because the project is broken into clear stages, guests always know what comes next: base color first, then the outline, then texture, then paint. The texture is allowed to set before painting begins, and the three hour class leaves room for that, so the session moves at a relaxed pace with time to chat between steps.
