What's Included
- Three hours of guided, beginner-friendly watercolor instruction
- All the supplies you need for the class
- Materials worth $35 to keep
- An introduction to which watercolor supplies to buy next
- Your finished floral paintings to take home
What You Will Learn
- Color theory and how to mix colors
- The basic strokes for leaf and petal shapes
- The basics of watercolor and how the paint behaves on paper
- Basic floral composition
The supply kit follows the instructor's own list: a synthetic squirrel round brush, 140lb cold press watercolor paper, artist-grade watercolor paints in warm and cool primaries and a watercolor palette with mixing wells. Guests are welcome to try the instructor's paints during class to see which colors they would like to add to their own collection later.
The approach is loose and forgiving: you paint florals with guided instruction rather than copying a rigid outline, so every guest's flowers end up a little different. Classes are kept small on purpose and beginner-friendly, and everything you need is on the table when you arrive, so however new you are to a brush, you are in the right place.
Why It Works for Groups
Watercolor slows everyone down in a good way, which is why painting team building suits teams that spend their days on screens. Nobody needs prior skill, the results are colorful from the first session and guests naturally compare palettes and petals across the table. With 2 to 6 guests per private class, it is one of the most personal team building activities for small groups, with plenty of attention for every painter.
The class is also a lovely date idea and a fit for a Christmas party, a birthday or a bachelorette party, and it makes a fun gift for her, for mom or for couples. Among creative team building activities and christmas team building ideas, painting florals is a gentle way to explore a new hobby, find a moment of peace or simply spend time with other creatives.
About Your Instructor
The studio is women-owned and run by a modern calligrapher and artist based in Marin, who is also a Bay Area mom and an ice cream shop owner. Her calligraphy journey began when she created handwritten signs for her first ice cream shop, and what started as a practical need grew into a true passion. Over the years she has taught calligraphy workshops, created wedding calligraphy and offered live on-site engraving at events.
After welcoming a baby in 2022, she found how restorative creativity could be, which inspired her to keep sharing art as both a craft and a form of self-care. In 2025 she took over a local ice cream shop in Larkspur, and today that shop is where she hosts creative workshops that bring people together through art and community. She also brings live calligraphy to weddings and events around the Bay Area.
