What's Included
- A three hour guided art and craft session, 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM
- Drawing instruction built on simple and dimensional shapes
- Craft projects such as ceramics, suncatchers and painting on wood with dimensional texture
- Materials including clay, canvas, canvas boards, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, graphite and paint pens
- Finished artwork for every child to take home
What Kids Will Do
Kids learn to draw animals, people or anything they choose. The instructor teaches them to construct simple shapes and dimensional shapes, then use those shapes to sketch whatever they can imagine, a method that gives even first-time artists a way to start. The camp is taught by a commercial artist whose clients have included major film studios.
The rest of the session is hands-on making. Students choose from many crafts and projects, including ceramics, suncatchers and paint on wood with dimensional texture, and there are many more projects to pick from. With so many materials on hand, each child can try something new or go deeper into a favorite medium.
Why It Works for Small Groups
Because sessions are booked by the hour, families can build anything from a single afternoon to a half day or full day, which makes this a flexible team building camp option for school breaks. Up to six kids can attend together, so it suits siblings, cousins and friends, and it is a natural fit among team building activities for small groups of students.
The mix of drawing and craft makes it one of the more creative team building activities for young people, and the hands-on projects place it among the most crafty team building activities a small group of kids can share. Everyone leaves with something they made.
Materials on hand include ceramics and clay, canvas and canvas boards, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, graphite and paint pens, so a single afternoon can move from a pencil sketch to a painted piece to a small sculpture. Kids choose what to work on, and the instructor guides each project from first shape to finished piece.

Her training includes studies in illustration, fashion design and fine art, as well as layout design in animation and graphic design. She developed a graphic arts department at a California trade college, has taught for a regional art league, currently teaches art in a local school district and offers homeschool art programs in groups or private sessions.
