Tote bag painting is relaxed, social and practical. Guests sketch a design onto a blank cotton canvas tote, then bring it to life with paint, from bold city skylines and sunsets to pets, fruit, patterns and lettering. No art experience is needed. The instructor demonstrates techniques for clean outlines, layering color and adding details, and helps every table along the way, so first-time painters and confident artists can work side by side.

How the Workshop Runs
Your group arrives to tables set with totes, palettes and brushes. The instructor opens with a short demonstration and a few design ideas, then guests sketch their own concept or follow a guided design step by step. Painting happens in stages, with time to step back, compare ideas and get tips from the instructor at each table. The session closes with finishing touches and a group photo with everyone holding up their bags, which tends to be one of the most colorful pictures of the day.
Why It Works for Groups
This is one of the most approachable crafty team building activities because a tote is forgiving: there is no wrong design, and every bag ends up completely different. The quiet focus of painting makes it easy for colleagues who rarely work together to talk, and the finished bags become everyday reminders of the event. It is indoors and seated, works for every fitness level and in any season, and fits offsites, holiday parties, new-hire welcomes, employee appreciation days and project wrap-ups. It is also popular for birthdays, bridal showers and friends' nights out. As team building activities for teams of any size, it scales easily from a small group at one table to a full department.
Custom Themes
The studio can tailor the session to your event. Choose a design from the studio gallery, keep it freestyle, or ask for a theme built around your company colors, a local landmark, a holiday or a team milestone. Matching themes make the totes a natural keepsake for an offsite or a conference welcome.
Food and Drinks
The studio runs its own kitchen with locally roasted coffee and an in-house menu that can be added to your booking, including salad and cheese platters, charcuterie boards, pizzas, sandwiches, kabob plates, desserts, wine and champagne. Dietary preferences can be accommodated with notice. Outside food may be allowed for private events with prior approval and a service fee.
The Studio
The Foster City studio is a long, light-filled room lined with original paintings, with tables and chairs, restrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. It is a women-owned, 5.0-star rated creative studio founded by a professionally trained artist with a degree in Graphic Design and Drawing and a Master of Fine Arts in Contemporary Painting, and it has hosted fun team building workshops for more than one hundred companies across the region.
